Episode 1 – Jasmine Star and Dane Sanders

September 4, 2007

“I don’t want my photography to define me, I want to define my photography.” ~ Jasmine Star

“It doesn’t cost me anything to tell the truth about what I see in other people.” ~ Dane Sanders

Welcome to the inaugural episode of F-Stop Beyond, a show that journeys into the heart of the visual artist. It’s our hope that this will be a program unlike any other. One that will reveal the underlying textures and personalities of your favorite photographers, videographers, and filmmakers. Beyond the techniques and talent, this show is about people. The people behind the lens. The souls underneath the exterior. Beyond brands and beyond the hype. We hope you like it.

I’m excited to have as our very first guests, Jasmine Star (Blu Domain’s Photographer of the Year) and Dane Sanders, one of the orignal Open Source Photo Forum members, producer of Dane’s Photo Minute, and founder of CutFrameTV, a “YouTube-like” site for photographers. His latest venture is FastTrackPhotographer which is an amazing idea to show how one can go from enthusiast to pro in the shortest amount of time. Dane’s efforts have recently been recognized in such noteworthy publications as Professional Photographer and Rangefinder Magazines.

Among other things, Jasmine talks about her family, how she got into photography, and the importance of her faith. Dane shares his philosophy on praising others, the importance of giving, and why photography is important to him.

Please let us know what you think. Enjoy the show!

Tune in next week when we’ll have photographer Jules Bianchi and filmmaker JD Cochran.

Don’t miss it!

I love the idea of having a network of photographers who can lift eachother up and share knowledge, and as of yet have only had that on online forums like OSP and DWF, etc, but after listening to the last part of this episode I am inspired to really go out and try to build a network of photographers in my local area (hard to believe but NONE exists at this time). Thanks for sharing guys!! God Bless to you all!
